The Rental and Used Equipment sales Associate will ensure that Transcat Rentals' clients are successful in performing their required tests. They will also be responsible for helping to continue the rapid growth of Transcat's rental business through quoting, order placement, customer service and sales support. As a Sales Representative at Transcat, position is pivotal in generating rental and sales revenue by soliciting and securing opportunities from both potential and existing customers. This is accomplished through phone and email interactions with customers, as well as in-person presentations and consultations showcasing Transcat’s comprehensive range of products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Customer and Prospect Management: Maintain an up-to-date list of prospects and customers. Ensure current account information is consistently updated in the company database.
  • Relationship Development: Actively pursue and nurture relationships with key equipment users, influencers, and decision-makers.
  • Find Solutions: Demonstrate an adept ability to understand customers' needs and devise solutions that Transcat can profitably rent and sell. This involves thinking creatively to offer alternatives that may not align with the customer's initial request but better serve their needs and objectives.
  • Collaboration: Work in close harmony with the Transcat Management Team to align sales strategies and initiatives.
  • Project and Task Management: Execute special projects and administrative tasks as directed.
  • Sales Planning: Engage in call planning and preparation before calling, emailing, or visiting customers and clients.
  • Revenue Growth: Drive territory, customer, and account growth through increases in revenue and the acquisition of new accounts.
  • Industry Engagement: Participate in industry events as required.
  • Travel Requirements: This position requires travel for client meetings, industry events, and trade shows. Estimated travel 25% of the time.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Product Knowledge: Familiarity with products in Transcat’s inventory.
  • Sales Experience: At least two (2) years of sales experience or equivalent.
  • Independence: Ability to operate autonomously with minimal supervision in various settings.
  • Tech-Savviness: Proficient in using computers for data management, internet research, and CRM/ERP systems.
  • Transportation: Possession of a good driving record and a clean, insured vehicle that can accommodate at least four (4) occupants.
  • Reporting: Timely completion of all call reports and expense reports.
  • Communication Skills: Outstanding oral and written communication abilities for effective customer and team interactions.
  • Multi-tasking: Capable of managing multiple sales activities simultaneously, including presentations, order follow-ups, quoting, negotiations, and closing deals.

 

Performance Metrics:

  • Achievement of rental and sales revenue targets as set by management.
  • Maintenance of an accurate and growing contact list.
  • Quality and quantity of sales interactions with the customer base.
  • Timely and accurate submission of all required paperwork.

 

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university, and 2-5 years of sales / customer service experience.

 

Physical Demands

  • Sitting: whether at a desk, during meetings, or while working on a computer.
  • Standing: may need to remain on their feet in an upright position without moving about.
  • Walking is also considered part of standing.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

 

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Travel is a requirement of this position. Combination of field work: Meeting clients, attending events, and conducting face-to-face interactions. Office work: Handling administrative tasks, following up on leads, and collaborating with colleagues. Frequent lifting in regards to bringing equipment for client demonstration purposes.
