The Warehouse Personnel II position will receive, ship, store, and distribute materials, tools, equipment, and products and perform additional functions within Transcat establishments by performing the duties outlined below.

Responsibilities

The employee must be able to perform the following warehouse operations error free with little direction/supervision:

  • Picking
    • Separate Pick Lists based on warehouse location, destination, priority, and order type
    • Pick items from warehouse according to the Pick List, including proper item numbers, quantities, and units of measure
    • Understand and utilize FIFO (first in, first out) method
    • Identify urgent orders and treat them with priority
    • Stage picked orders in appropriate area for boxing or movement to lab
  • Packing/Boxing
    • Pack items using our boxing verification system to ensure all items and quantities match the Pick List
    • Box/palletize items with sufficient packaging material to prevent shifting and damage during transit and include printed Packing List
    • Identify special handling notes/requests and comply appropriately
    • Affix appropriate labels to box
    • Stage boxes in appropriate area based on shipping method and destination
    • Modify ship quantities in system, as needed
    • Enter asset numbers on rental units
  • Shipping – Run Through
    • Become proficient with UPS WorldShip or current UPS software, FedEx software, and other 3rd party software/web pages
    • Verify box order label and Pick List match
    • Confirm UPS account number, customer name and address, shipping service, and billing type matches
    • Choose box size or enter box/pallet dimensions and freight class
    • Print label. Affix shipping label firmly to box/pallet and receipt label to Pick List and schedule pickup, when applicable
    • Add freight charges, tracking, and manually close orders, as needed
    • Understand harmonized codes and how to look them up
    • Create customs paperwork for Canada and Puerto Rico shipments
  • Receiving
    • Identify inbound packages and separate per destination (PO, lab, rental return, credit return, etc.)
    • Check packaging for damage
    • Verify package contents against packing slip
    • Process receipts in A+
    • Properly label each product with barcode labels
    • Identify discrepancies and fill out report when needed
    • Stock received items using FIFO method
  • Inventory
    • Count inventory for daily cycle counts and annual physical inventory
    • Rotate stock as needed
    • Perform warehouse transfers (moves)
    • Research and resolve discrepancies
    • Support lab when they have defective stock (TCS)
  • General
    • Complete training on operational procedures
    • Inspect equipment to ensure it is in safe, working order. Report issues to team leader or manager
    • Keep warehouse clean and organized
    • Maintain and organize departmental paperwork
    • Report discrepancies to team leader or manager
    • Participate in continuous improvement program
    • Follow all safety requirements
    • Coordinate large orders with lab personnel, when appropriate
    • Work with Sales, Rentals, Lab, and Purchasing as needed
    • Process stock rotations and vendor returns
    • Fulfill other duties, as assigned
  • Typical Additional Duties That May Be Assigned

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

To be considered for a warehouse personnel II position, the following knowledge, skills and abilities are required 

  • Strong commitment to customer satisfaction
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven track record of excellent attention to detail
  • Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness while completing work in a timely manner
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Work well in a group and individually
  • Proven computer skills
  • Ability to use a forklift, pallet jack and complete required training
  • 3+ years driving experience with a valid driver’s license and acceptable driver history 

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • 2 or more years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience

 

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus

 

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places, outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
