About the Job
We are seeking a full-time Field Calibration and Validation Specialist to provide onsite calibration and validation services for customers within an 8-hour radius of the specified location, with travel up to 75% of the time across the U.S. This role combines field calibration of measurement and test equipment (M&TE) with validation support for laboratory equipment under GMP/FDA requirements. You will split time between customer sites and occasional support at a local Transcat laboratory when not traveling. Reporting to a Validation Manager, you will contribute to diverse, collaborative projects that ensure world-class production standards.
· Calibrate M&TE to manufacturer specifications and identify out-of-tolerance conditions, providing corrective actions (e.g., adjustments, minor repairs).
· Develop, prepare, and execute PM, IQ, OQ, and PQ protocols for laboratory equipment in compliance with GMP/FDA standards.
· Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and computerized systems/software, including HPLCs, GCs, UV-VIS, autoclaves, and controlled temperature units.
· Maintain calibration standards and update documentation following Good Laboratory/Documentation Practices.
· Provide customers with information on additional services and equipment offered by Transcat/Martin.
· Perform temperature/humidity mapping, sterilization studies, and analytical balance qualifications (e.g., USP-41 specifications).
· Submit and update paperwork for travel, services, and administrative purposes.
· Other duties as assigned to support the Compliance Team’s operations.
Travel Requirements
· Monday-through-Friday travel generally with weekly overnight stays near customer facilities.
· Company covers all lodging, travel expenses, and approved incidental charges.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Calibration and/or validation experience with commercial, biomedical, or laboratory M&TE (or equivalent training).
· Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve across electrical, mechanical, and software systems.
· Self-motivated with strong organizational skills, able to work independently with minimal supervision.
· Customer-service oriented with excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
· Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel), Windows systems, and basic database functionality; ability to quickly learn new software.
· Strong attention to detail and a “Right First Time” approach to following written instructions.
· 3+ years driving experience with a valid driver’s license and acceptable driver history
· Ability to adapt to fast-paced settings with shifting priorities.
Education and Experience
· Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Science, Computer Science, or a technical field; OR
· 2-5 years of related field experience in calibration/validation (preferably in FDA-regulated environments) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Military PMEL training is a plus.
Desired Experience/Skills
· Familiarity with FDA regulations, pharmaceutical GMPs (21 CFR 210/211), ISO standards, or GAMP 5 guidance.
· Experience with Kaye Validator or similar qualification equipment.
· Knowledge of pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device manufacturing processes, facilities, and equipment.
· Cross-functional expertise in calibration, validation, and laboratory instrument services.

· Stand for up to 8 hours daily and occasionally lift 50–75 lbs (with assistance for heavier loads).
· Maneuver a 400-lb cart from unloading areas to customer sites.
· Work in diverse environments, including heat, freezers (-40°F), and areas with electrical or mechanical hazards.
Work Environment
The work environment described here is representative of what an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
