Position Summary

As a Heat Treat Calibration Technician, you will be responsible for the calibration, repair, and servicing of heat treat equipment (furnaces, ovens, temperature/humidity chambers) at our customer locations.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform all responsibilities in compliance with ISO 17025 standards
  • Conduct accurate and timely calibrations at customer sites
  • Calibrate, inspect, maintain, and repair a wide range of instruments according to defined procedures and industry standards.
  • Operate, maintain, and adjust various types of calibration and test equipment, including:
    • Heat treat systems (furnaces, ovens, temperature/humidity chambers)
    • Hardness testers (Rockwell, Brinell, Knoop, Vickers)
    • Force measurement devices (tensile testers, creep and stress rupture machines, extensometers)
    • Precision hand tools (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators)
  • Review calibration procedures, test results, and documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance
  • Communicate effectively with clients on-site to provide updates, address concerns, and answer questions
  • Ensure all calibration activities align with approved procedures, regulatory requirements, and quality standards
  • Follow all safety guidelines to ensure calibrations and tests are performed in a safe working environment
  • Accurately document calibration results and maintain up-to-date records in accordance with internal and regulatory requirements
  • Local Travel requirement: 50-75% of work schedule

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Successful completion of assigned training materials through on-the-job training, online content, LMS, and classroom led instruction
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Self-motivated learner with the ability to learn new skills related to calibration and calibration processes
  • Ability to take direction and learn from feedback
  • Ability to communicate well with supervisor, solve problems effectively, and work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to troubleshoot digital and computerized controllers, preferred
  • Strong understanding of PID tuning and motor control systems, preferred
  • Ability to perform thermocouple calibrations, preferred
  • Ability to conduct temperature uniformity surveys in accordance with AMS2750 standards, preferred

 

Education and Experience

  • Associates degree from college or technical school; or at least one (1) year related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3+ years driving experience with a valid driver’s license and acceptable driver history

Work Environment

 

The work environment described here is representative of what an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
