Our mission is to ensure customer satisfaction by maintaining an environment dedicated to quality, capability and timeliness. We have an opening for a full-time Mechanical Calibration Technician in our Chelmsford, MA laboratory for the 2nd shift from 2:30 pm to 11:00 pm. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, organized and collaborative. If you have a technical high school education or experience as a machinist or mechanical inspector in the uses of mechanical / dimensional measuring instruments, we will train you to become a professional calibration technician. Essco is a growing company with an opportunity to advance your career working in a strong team environment.

 

$21/hour - $25/ hour

Mechanical Calibration Technician is responsible for performing accurate equipment calibrations using proper standards and procedures. Ensures all instruments are correctly calibrated, analyzes data, and documents results using internal and customer-specific templates. Supports team efforts and customer service with professionalism and integrity, while continuously investing in personal and professional development.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (include the following, with other duties may be assigned):

  • Completes calibrations in a safe, timely, and accurate manner, following Essco and customer specific templates and procedures.
  • Responsible for proper handling and maintenance of Essco and customer equipment.
  • Identify required supplies, tools, and equipment for calibration projects and communicate these needs to the appropriate personnel to ensure timely availability.
  • It is expected that 90-95% of work time will be utilized by completing calibrations.  
  • Develop understanding of Test Accuracy Ratio (TAR), Test Uncertainty Ratio (TUR), traceability, uncertainty, and error concepts
  • Learn to properly use the Calibration Management System (CMS)
  • Analyze and interpret calibration test data
  • Understand and document calibration certificates following Essco requirements
  • Review and interpret technical literature and work orders

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED or completion of a high school-level program)
  • Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Basic understanding of calibration and measurement concepts (accuracy, standards, traceability)
  • Attention to detail for precise measurements and accurate documentation
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and work instructions
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills
  • Integrity and professionalism in handling equipment and data
  • Effective communication and teamwork
  • Willingness to learn and grow through training and continuous improvement

Work Environment

The work environment described here is representative of what an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
